“MySpace is NOT for Sale.” – News Corp
The networking site MySpace is for sale? You've got to be kidding!
News Corp digital chief Jonathan Miller said that News Corp company doesn’t have any plans on selling its social networking site MySpace last Wednesday, and that any report of such are just fabrications.
News Corp however is planning to reinvent the said website with a relaunch that is to be expected later this year. There were talks that the site will be turned to an entertainment focused site. Although MySpace focused more on entertainment such as music, its number of visitors significantly dropped. It has also lost several execs including co-president Jason Hirschhorn last month. In the last two years, MySpace has lost its momentum versus its fast-growing rivals like Facebook and Twitter. But the News Corp Executive Chief Rupert Murdoch denies any plans to sell MySpace.
It is still in question whether MySpace can attract another well-paid search advertising deal like the three-year $900 (US) million deal it made with Google Inc. in 2006. The said deal will expire in August but it is not expected that MySpace will get any nearer to score another major deal from Google.View Article Source »
