Virta 2 Smartphone – Not your ordinary Phone!
There is a MeeGo on the screen, not the Droid we'd been wishing for, but the reason behind is that the kit can actually switch between operating systems by just swapping your MicroSD card.
Upon meeting the Finnish startup of Aava Mobile, we recognized the same paradigm phone. Surprisingly it dropped a brand new device alongside to show us how their Moorestown-based goals have grown. This is the Virta 2 design that will be given to the developers very very soon, same hardware with different twists. There is a MeeGo on the screen, not the Droid we’d been wishing for, but the reason behind is that the kit can actually switch between operating systems by just swapping your MicroSD card.
Incredibly the original paradigm had a thin, superficial shell, the Virta 2’s gone downright rugged, ditching the iPhone chrome for a more constant gunmetal frame, and there’s a full compliment of all the sensors (compass, accelerometer, proximity and ambient light) along with quad-band radios, Bluetooth, WiFi and a pair of cameras for video chat needs.
The handset of this smartphone is roughly estimated at $2393 per unit, it is not cheap obviously, but really where can we find an Atom Z600 to play with? Devices will be shipped late August or earliest of September and Aava expects the platform (but not the exact handset) to see commercial availability next year.
Let’s wait what’s up for us…
