Sprint is set to launch what seems to be a new case for iPod touch. According to the recently released FCC documents, it would enable 3G networking on WiFi-only devices. Dubbed as “Peel,” this ZTE manufactured device is a MiFi-like mobile hot spot that snaps on to an iPod touch to give a network connection.
Peel has a 3.4Whr lithium ion battery that can last up to 40 hours in a standby mode. It can also connect to other WiFi devices, in addition to the 3G network access it can provide for iPod touch. The device, however, can only operate on the slower EV-DO Rev 0 Standard. But it’s a wonder if there are iPod touch owners that would be attracted with this new device.
