Take your iDevice apps for a spin via "Try Before You Buy," the section that just appeared on the Apple App Store that lets you test drive apps before you actually purchase them.

enthusiasts can now experiment on selected game, mobile site and program on the before buying them. The online store’s latest section “Try Before You Buy” lets you get a glimpse of how a certain app performs and delivers.

But test driving of products is limited to this short list of versions: freemium, “lite” and ad-supported, the full versions of which still appear on the pay-per-play section. Only pre-existing free apps have made it to the panel of “Try Before You Buy,” those that belong in one of the three versions. If you want to get a feel of the real deal, you will still have to download the full version. Most freemium or lite apps come only as mini-versions.

As is the case with almost all trial versions, Apple can only give so much. Trial versions still work within time constraints. Apple deserves a nod for this concept. The test drive policy somehow connects with Market’s full and automatic next-day refund policy. And Apple could have put up this section to pair up. But, on the good-news side, it could also deter bunches of anticipated app pirates, those who cracked or illegally shared apps they were not able to test drive before.
