PSP and Xperia: PlayStation Phone
A PSP and a smartphone in one? Cool, right?
Rumors has it that Sony Ericsson is developing a device that would be a PlayStation-like phone and powered by Android 3.0.
According to Engadget.com, Sony Ericsson is working on a mobile phone and a game device which is a cross between the Xperia and the PSP Go. It is supposedly a landscape slider with PSP like controls, plus a ouchpad in replacement of the joystick. Equipped with a 3.7”-4.1” screen, 5-megapixel camera and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, The phone will carry the Xperia and Playstation.
Sources say that the device will run 3.0 OS codename Gingerbread. The device will run standard Android apps and the games are available in the Android Marketplace. PSP and PSX games are to be imported in Android apps just like Square-Enix and iPhone. The device is said to be announced this year.
Given the dominance of Apple in the mobile-gaming industry, Sony should be ready. And Google is happy to serve our dear old Sony in that matter. Turning the Android OS into a gaming institute will more likely send shivers down Apple’s throat.
