Sharpness and color. Sony redefines both through a new pair of point-and-shoots in the innovated SLT series.

The first members of the new SLT family, Alpha SLT-A33 and SLT-A55V, are the first cameras to integrate in solving autofocus issues in still cameras–one of a few solutions we are likely to see over the next year. A , also known as a pellicle mirror, “passes most of the light from the through a fixed semitransparent mirror, reflecting a small bit of the light upwards to a separate phase-detection autofocus sensor.”

The technology brings about a few lovely things like the lenses’ quick-focus feature that renders noise barely perceptible, the drop-down articulation in the interface and general photographic usefulness. The cameras are convenient for typical consumers used to HD camcorders, Flip camcorders and point-and-shoot video. But they seem to be a bit relatively expensive for its kind. It shoots footages as good as usual camcorders.
