Painting Holograms with the iPad
It is not just an app berth, nor a hardware space to stuff your virtually sporadic software... Your iPad can paint magic, too.
The folks from Dentsu London and BERG have collaborated to create a series of awesome, charming holograms that resulted to a holographic video. Their technique? Use an iPad to light-paint single photos. Still clueless? Here is how they have done it:
First they create 3D models with frames in software. Each frame is outlined by a virtual CAT-like scan. They play the scan’s animation while dragging the iPad through space. The shapes extruded then are captured through long exposure photography.
The result? The iPads that have made the words and shapes on the screen are barely visible. Blurs of the people moving the iPads though are noticeable, making for a spooky effect. The video is more vibrant to watch, so why not give it a try?
