Toshiba Releases 4G WiMax-Ready Laptops

Your next Toshiba laptop can be WiMax connected! Mark you calendar, because Toshiba will launch WiMax-ready laptops on selected retailers on the 26th.
With WiMax already rolling out in 54 cities across the nation, Toshiba announced last Wednesday that several of their premium laptops will include WiMax-ready chipset built-in. Interestingly, the chips are based on Intel’s Kilmer Peak, a PCI-e adapter that was supposed to launch next year with Intel’s Huron River. But since Sprint and Clearwire have made good on their promise to deliver wireless 4G nationwide, Toshiba is putting no time to waste jumping on board.
To make it familiar to you, WiMax is like a WiFi connection that covers the entire city. It has an average download speed of two to three Mbps, and with a price that can be as low as $40 per month.
The WiMax wireless chips will be available in Satellite E205-S1908, Portege R705-P35, M645 Series and Satellite A665 Series, and will hit selected retailers on the 26th.
