If you're looking for power in a laptop, you've found it--the Dell Precision M6500 is about as powerful as modern desktop replacement laptops get. It is simply elegant and too sexy in exchange of your desktop.

If you are searching for power in a laptop, the is about as powerful as a modern desktop replacement laptops can get. It supports up to four memory DIMM slots, over 1TB of hard-drive storage space, and a 17-inch 1920 x 1200 pixel screen. Looking on how it was built, the outer chassis is made of smooth, slate-gray aluminum, while the interior is a smooth, matte-black plastic. The entire notebook looks neat and business-like — and too sexy for a desktop replacement. It weighs 8.5 pounds, and the 17-inch work station measures 15.4 inches wide, 11 inches long and 1.35 unches thick. But this is not the type of laptop that you can bring around, as its battery only last 90 minutes.

The speakers are at the top of the keyboard, together with a silver fingerprint reader, a Reader 2.1 button and a power button. The Reader 2.1 button is a dedicated button that enables users to access e-mail, contact information, calendar appointments and task items in Outlook in a jiffy. Another dedicated button on the list is the calculator button which brings up the Windows Calculator. On the keyboard’s part, it has soft, smooth and regular keys, optional back-lighting and a number pad. The only hiccup here is the matte-black trackpad that is quite small, making it impossible to do multi-touch gestures.

In terms of arrays of ports, M6500 is fairly normal. On the left side are two USB 2.0 ports, 1394 six-pin port, headphone and microphone jacks, eight-in-one card reader, PC card slot and a DVD +/- RW slot. On the right side are two USB/eSATA Combo ports, VGA-out port, display port, ethernet port, ExpressCard slot and a WiFi switch. Moving on to the display, the 1920 x 1200 RGB LED backlit screen delivers amazing image quality. Video playback is superb, you can stream videos from Hulu in a breeze and HD clips play without flaw. However, the speakers aren’t as loud as some of the netbook speakers we usually see. And aside from some programs used to configure the webcam and other peripherals, there are virtually no software the came bundled within the unit. And another cool things here is that members of the Precision series generally come with a Microsoft Office Starter Edition

To sum it all up, the Dell can be a good choice if you want a powerful desktop replacement. It’s quick, smooth and full of elegance, and its only drawbacks are its weight and short battery life.
