After the Levequest and Crafting comes the Gathering and Repairing. Read on to see what Square Enix has in store for gamers Final Fantasy XIV. Can you get your item without the hustle?

As promised, we are now on the second part of our review. Last week, we tackled about Levequest and Crafting. Now, let’s continue our tour on Gathering and Repairing.

Gathering

Compared to crafting that has a lot of professions, there are only three gathering professions in . You can mine, harvest from trees and grasses, or fish in order to collect raw materials. All you need in order to harvest is to have the right equipment and you are all set. A piece of advice though, you might want to snag a mining quest early on since it can rank you up fairly in a jiffy. Like most of the tasks in , Gathering is divided into several steps. The game requires that you reach a certain proximity to an item you want to have, and then open the main menu to initiate the process. When you’re done, you can take your item into your inventory.

While this is initially fun, the process can have unnecessary hurdles. Gathering in FF XIV can be more sophisticated that the simple click to harvest system. Maybe, that’s the balance is trying implement here. So if you want to harvest a lot of materials, be ready to exert some effort.

Repairing

Contrary to Gathering, Repairing is not that cumbersome. All you have to do is approach a NPC found in the starting cities, or use a crafting skill to repair your item. By a mile, the easiest way is the first option. You can get your item repaired by paying a certain fee in exchange of the service. The only hiccup here is that your item don’t get a 100 percent recovery, unless you do crafting repairs. So be bold in experimenting and interacting to master a skill or two.

The crafting process, on the other hand, requires too much clicking on your inventory before you get to start the process. It is also imperative that you check out what tools need repairing, as some might require all skills from a blacksmith to a goldsmith. But the good news here is that others can do that for you. Just set your item in a bazaar for repair, and it’ll be available to some crafsman even if you are offline.

Wrapping Up

Nothing in this game is given without a catch, and everything can take a long time. It requires gamers to take some time fiddling in the interface and searching for needed components. Basically, if you lack free time then FF XIV is not a good MMO for you.
