Cisco Umi Enables Videoconferencing at Home

Make video messages or organize video chats with your friends while enjoying the comforts of your home with Cisco Umi.

Last Wednesday, System unveiled its latest project called , a which allows people to do videoconferencing using their HD televisions.

The service bundle comes with Cisco-issued high-definition camera with an embedded microphone, a set-top box, and a remote but you need to own an HD TV and installed Internet connection in your home.

Umi is useful for video chats and video messages. Users can upload the videos recorded via Umi on Facebook and Youtube.

Settings and profiles of Umi can be personalized depending on the needs of its owners. The hardware is priced at $599, with a $24.99 monthly service fee. It will be available at Best Buy on November 14 but preorders can be made now.
