Redbox Kiosks: Testing Video Game Rentals Across US
Redbox kiosks are no longer just for DVD and Blu-rays. Even gamers now have their section on the rental stand. Only it is twice as much as the DVD movie and $0.50 more than a Blu-ray flick.
Starting this month, Redbox will begin renting out video games at their DVD rental kiosks around the US. According to a Redbox spokesperson, the company began testing video game rentals since August 2009. But they intend to expand their earlier tests by including markets from the West, Midwest and Atlantic Coast.
Part of the inventory are recent and top-selling video games for PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, XBox 360 and Nintendo DS. The video game rental at Rebdox works like the DVD and Blu-ray rentals, only that each transaction costs $2 a day.
Without any classics in the mix and with a not-so-large market, can Redbox gain more revenue from video game rentals? Share us your opinions by leaving a comment below.View Article Source »
