AMD Unveils 6800 Series
It's no longer a rumor. AMD is indeed releasing a Radeon HD video cards under 6800 series. The Radeon HD 6870 and Radeon HD 6850 is slated to hit the glasses on Friday.
After rumors about AMD’s upcoming 6800 series of video cards percolated last week, the company has finally confirmed that the new cards will be out this week. Coming out with an official name of Radeon HD 6870 and Radeon HD 6850, they are akin to the most recent 5000 series aside from the I/O bracket. The new products sport a two DVI-output, one full-size HDMI out, and two Mini DisplayPort jacks. The 6870 model will require two six-pin power connectors, while the 6850 will require just one.
As announced last August, the Radeon HD 6870 and Radeon HD 6850 will be the first video cards that will not carry the ATI brand name. Based on AMD’s typical naming scheme, the Radeon HD 6870 will have a higher performance component, while the Radeon HD 6850 will be a bit laid back in terms of power and price. The AMD Radeon video cards is set for a Friday release on October 22.View Article Source »
