Dell Employees Gets Their Own Windows Phone 7
Dell made the smart move by using its own products. The company’s thousand employees will get to swap their Blackberrys for smartphones running with Windows Phone 7. Is it a great concept or what?
Lucky day it must be! Next week, 25,000 Dell employees will have the chance to trade in their Blackberrys in exhange of the “Venue Pro” smartphones which runs with Windows Phone 7. In a news form Wall Street Journal, the same option to switch to Android phones will also be available in the future.
Dell used this move to reduce the corporate mobile spending by 25 percent. Plus, this will also help entice other companies to try Dell mobile products which runs under Windows Phone 7 and Android.
A BlackBerry executive mentioned that, “We find it highly unlikely that they will actually save any money with this move and far more likely they were looking for a little free publicity. Consider all the hard and soft costs of purchasing, deploying and supporting new devices and new software inside a company.”
It is a big challenge to encourage other companies to switch to Dell phones thus the strategy of promoting it inside its own corporate offices. Dell CFO Brian Gladden said, “Clearly in this decision we are competing with RIM, because we’re kicking them out.”View Article Source »
