The January issue of Game Informer magazine will be unveiling the new Tomb Raider game created by the bright minds of Crystal Dynamics. This news was announced by the game publisher Square Enix today. It appears that the game is titled “Tomb Raider” which will retell the origin of Lara Croft.
Prior to this, rumors claimed that the next Tomb Raider game will be setting on a Japanese island after Lara’s sailing goes ship-wrecked. It appears that this rumor has some truth about it, as Square Enix mentions a ship-wreck scene on the game.
“After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was traveling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach,” Square’s PR reads. “On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive.

“Forget everything you knew about Tomb Raider,” said Darrell Gallagher, Head of Crystal Dynamics Studio. “This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.”
Game Informer’s issue will be hanging on newsstands by December 11th, and will feature a ten-page exclusive game review.
