‘Tron: Legacy’, the First iAd for iPad
The first ever iAd for the iPad was launched today. The debut offering for the iAD is the Disney film Tron: Legacy. For now, this will be the only iAd to be released. More iAds will be launched next year.
Ad Age reported earlier that the first iAd on the iPad will debut today in the form of an ad campaign for the Disney film “Tron Legacy.” The film will debut on theaters this weekend. However, this will be the first and last iAd for 2010. Other iAds will be released next year. Designed to maximize the ad potential of Apple’s tablet, iAD will be launched widely in early 2011 when other ads start its release onto the platform.
Just like the iAds in iPod Touch and iPhone, the iPad iAd is rich with graphics, equipped with touch navigations and packed with video native apps. The full-screen “Tron” featured on several iPad apps like TV Guide will include a full 10-minute video, images from the movie, a theater locator with showing times and a preview of the soundtrack. The preview of the soundtrack was included for people to invite people to download it on iTunes. For the first time in the history of iAd, users can send email within the ad.
iAd compatibility to the iPad was brought about with the release of iOS 4.2 late last month. However, production of the ads, which remains under the tight control of Apple, has taken some time to bring iPad-specific ads to market.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs is one of Disney’s largest individual shareholders since the media and entertainment company acquired animation studio Pixar in 2006. Jobs holds a seat on Disney’s board of directors, and Apple and Disney have worked closely together in the past and now the two companies come together for “Tron Legacy” to debut as an iAd for iPad.View Article Source »
