Microsoft Fixes WP7 Data Hog
Microsoft has already identified the bug that causes data hog to its WP7 users. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee as to when the fix will arrive.
It was reported last week that Windows Phone 7 OS acquired a data hog, resulting in superfluous digital contents being uploaded over 3G networks. The bug causes some WP7 owners to reach or surpass their monthly data allotments quickly. Good thing, Microsoft believes that they already identified the cause of data hog.
We have determined that a third-party solution commonly accessed from Windows Phones is configured in a manner that potentially cause larger than expected data downloads. We are in contact with the third party to assist them in making the necessary fixes, and are also pursuing potential workarounds to address the configuration issue in case those are needed. At this point in our investigation, we believe this is responsible for most of the reported incidents.
Unfortunately, there are no concrete timeline as to when the potential solution will be pushed. The company also failed to identify the “third-party solution” responsible for the bug. And lastly, the company did not say anything yet on what they intend to do for users who got the bug.
