Panasonic Updates Lumix T Series with TS3

Panasonic just revealed its new family member: The Lumix DMC-TS3. The camera that is ideal for the wild outdoors is set to hit the market this March.

’s T series got a new member — the . The 12.1-megapixel camera is designed to endure a drop from 6.6ft. high, a temperature as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit, and an underwater environment up to 40ft. deep. The Lumix is also friendly to the wild outdoors with its built-in GPS receiver and compass, altimeter and barometer.

Furthermore, Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-TS3 also a new 3D mode. The camera will record 20 consecutive images as the user pans across a scene. After that, the Lumix DMC-TS3 will overlay the two best to create a 3D image file. Unfortunately, the file can only be viewed using a compatible 3D HDTVs and not on the camera itself.

In terms of design, Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-TS3 takes a small flight from its predecessors. Despite the same industrial style as TS2, a slight curved hand-grip has been added, the shutter button on top becomes rectangular, and the camera ports, battery housing and memory card slot have been moved to a single weather-sealed door.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 internally contains a 28mm wide-angle 4.6x optical zoom in front, while the back has a 2.7-inch LCD screen with 260k-dot resolution. The menus also got a smoother interface, and the camera sports a full 1080 HD video recording and optical image stabilization.
