AMD Unleashes FirePro 2270
AMD has announced the first GPU in its professional-grade FirePro series that won't bear the ATI brand: the AMD FirePro 2270.
AMD has announced its first GPU that will not bear the ATI brand in its FirePro series — the AMD FirePro2270. Especially designed for CAD, multi-monitor workstations, trading floors and medical imaging systems, the FirePro 2270 card has a low-profile design and passive cooler. Simply put, it is intended to replace the actively cooled FirePro 2250.
AMD FirePro 2270’s design supports both single-lane and 16x PCI-E slots. It also includes a 512MB of graphics memory, and DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.1 support. It also has different breakout cables for the DMS-59 connector, enabling users to hook up two displays over DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA with resolutions up to 2,560 x 1,600. But more than that, the best feature of AMD’s FirePro 2270 is its low-power consumption. Even at full load, the card only consumes 15W.
For $149, the AMD FirePro 2270 is expected to hit the US market over the next few weeks. Though it is not cheap, just think of the bonuses it can provide: Controlled manufacturing process, low power consumption, at least four-year life-cycle and a three-year warranty.View Article Source »
