Command & Conquer Under New Management: EA’s Victory Games Studio
Victory is on Command & Conquer's side as EA creates a dedicated strategy game studio for the franchise.
After being offline for a couple of days, the Command & Conquer website is back up and racks up a surprise along with the shiny new design as it reveals that the game franchise is under new management. EA (Electronic Arts) unveils the news that it has formed a new studio which aims to focus on the creation of strategy games, including Command & Conquer. And what better name to give to a studio which will handle everything RTS than “Victory Games” (cue logo with matching medallion replacing the letter ‘V’).
The newly created Victory Games studio is headed by former Trion CCO Jon Van Caneghem. “Victory Games was created to be the focal point for the creation of strategy games for the Games Label at EA,” said Jon Van Caneghem. “Our current focus is making a AAA Command & Conquer game, which I am very excited to be working on.” The studio has offices in Los Angeles, CA; Austin, TX; and Shanghai, China.
As to what we can expect for the new Command & Conquer game, the Victory Games head wasn’t exactly generous in giving the details except for the fact that the game will be on the PC. But expect that the studio is working long and hard in making the next C&C game something to look out for.View Article Source »
