Nintendo 3DS Sold Out in Japan, More Coming Soon
How long does it take to sell 400,000 Nintendo 3DS units in Japan? How about less than half a day?
From Shibuya to Akihabara, Japan goes crazy over the release of the Nintendo 3DS last Saturday. That’s why it’s no wonder that all 400,000 Nintendo 3DS units were immediately sold around 9:00am of the release date, where thousands of customers lined up to get their hands on the groundbreaking handheld console. People who were not so fortunate on getting their hands on the Nintendo 3DS will have another chance of getting it as Nintendo, through the word of mouth of several shops around Japan, said that they’ll be shipping more units soon.
Although some shops including the Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku and the Bic Cameras in Yurakucho and Ikebukuro, only served customers who had their Nintendo 3DS pre-ordered, others had quite a busy day as hundreds and even thousands lined up as early as 12midnight the moment they announced that they’re planning a same-day sale earlier.
The Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara felt the presence of around 1,000 customers that lined-up for the handheld. The Nintendo 3DS console was immediately sold out around 9:30AM.
Just before the release, some stores celebrated the herald of the Nintendo 3DS by giving demos and previews on what the handheld can offer.
