Windows 7 was a design-success. Will Microsoft continue their momentum with the Windows 8 for tablets?

Is ready to face the head-on? Well the only way to find out is to wait until June as a insider told Business Insider that the company is getting their gears checked to unveil the new design for by the end of the fiscal year. The unnamed source revealed that the Windows 8 is going to take a more -like approach in terms of interface design and will be utilizing concepts from the “Metro” interface used for .

The “Metro” interface originally came out of Windows XP’s Media Center interface back in 2004, but the design was originally planned to be viewed from 10 feet away and controlled via remote. The Metro on the other hand has been modified from the Windows XP version into something that’s more suitable for touch screens.

So we suppose Microsoft isn’t completely out of the game yet. Maybe Obama should have invited the company in his private meeting with other tech/internet giants.
