Microsoft Xbox 360 Kinect Beats Apple for Fastest Selling Device Record
Looks like US President Obama should've invited Microsoft in his meeting with Facebook, Apple and Google CEOs after all.
If you think Steve Jobs and his Apple iPhone and iPad are the fastest selling devices in the world, then you thought wrong! According to the Guiness World Records 2011 Gamer’s Edition, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Kinect beats the Apple for the Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronics Device throne as it has successfully sold an average of 133,333 Kinect units per day between November 2010 and January 2011.
“The sales figures here speak for themselves,” says Guiness editor Gaz Deaves. “We can confirm that no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector.” This is a strong sign that controller-less gaming is here to stay.
Not to be left behind, sales of standalone Kinect games have already surpassed the 10 million mark, equaling the sales of the Kinect itself. Looks like Microsoft’s finally got the upperhand over Apple this time, now let’s see how well they can do when they enter the tablet market next year.
