BMW to Unveil 5-Series Hybrid Vehicle at Shanghai Motor Show
China goes green with a BMW exclusive.
“From China for China,” that’s what BMW CEO Norbert said about their latest BMW vehicle called the 5-Series “New Energy Vehicle”, that will make a debut at the Shanghai Motor Show. The BMW car will be an exclusive hybrid vehicle only available in China, giving the people from the economic powerhouse a unique, environmentally-friendly driving experience along the roads of Beijing and Shanghai.
The New Energy Vehicle was first revealed from unofficial sources back in January, but Reithofer only confirmed the car this week. The hybrid-vehicle is built around the long-wheelbase version of the 5-series, and it features a plug-in hybrid powertrain. No particular details have been unveiled on the New Energy Vehicle except that it will “benefit from the strength and excellent reputation of the BMW brand.” And Gadg supposed that it’s all we need to know.
The U.S. on the other hand might be having something similar to the 5-Series hybrid vehicle, but we can only confirm once the New York Auto Show kicks-off, which is coincidentally happening around the same time as the Shanghai show.View Article Source »
