Apple Sues Amazon.com for “App Store” Trademark
Cupertino company, Apple Inc. sues Amazon.com for using the "APP STORE" trade mark. Legal or not?
Apple Inc., who introduced us the famous iTunes App Store, sued Amazon.com Inc. for improperly using it’s App Store trademark. The lawsuit was filed in a California federal court last week, denoting that Amazon used Apple’s trademark to solicit software developers through the US.
Apple has registered the APP STORE trademark in the United States, a bid which Microsoft opposes. “We’ve asked Amazon not to copy the APP STORE name because it will confuse and mislead customers,” Apple spokeswoman, Kristin Huguet, said on Monday. Amazon.com has not yet released an official statement about the matter.
