Flip Video Camera Says Goodbye
Owners of the Flip Video Camera, you just got yourself an official memorabilia of the now defunct mini video cam.
Just two years after buying Flip for $590 million from camera maker Pure Digital, Cisco announced last Tuesday that the portable video cam is no more, and “will exit aspects of its consumer businesses.”
According to a statement, Cisco said that the company had lost its focus by trying to attack too many businesses and will “close down its Flip business and support current FlipShare customers and partners with a transition plan.” This realignment, according to them, is for the purpose to “support four of its five key company priorities.”
Mashable’s Christina Warren shares her insight on Cisco’s move:
“It looks like the Flip was simply an intermediary product. Much like the netbook, which has been largely usurped by lower-cost full laptops and tablets like the iPad, the Flip was simply a product that disrupted markets before moving aside for a true successor,” writes Warren.
Well, that’s it for Flip.View Article Source »
