Android OS Now America’s Choice in Smartphones for Q1 2011, iOS Drops to 2nd Place
According to a quarterly survey conducted by Nielson, the Android OS has catapulted itself to the number one spot as the next smartphone of choice. Android banked 31% against Apple iOS’ 30% for the 1st quarter of 2011. The year 2010, along with the other years before, have been pretty much been dominated by the iOS, making this the first time Android to reach the top.
Though Apple cultists may find several plausible causes for the results, there’s no denying that the Android OS has taken over the top spot from Apple iOS after years of being the bridesmaid to America’s smartphone of choice (much of this, of course, is attributed to several carriers that support Android).
The survey also indicates that Android has taken over the smartphone market share, leaving the Apple iOS, RIM BlackBerry OS, Windows 7, Palm/Web OS, and Symbian OS far behind.View Article Source »
