After PSN, Sony’s Online Entertainment is also Under Attack

Sony encountered another security breach again, as its Online Entertainment services is under cyber attack.
Following the chaos created by a security breach in its PSN and Qriocity, Sony is once again under cyber attack with its Online Entertainment services.
“Our ongoing investigation of illegal intrusions into Sony Online Entertainment systems has discovered that hackers may have obtained personal customer information from SOE systems. We are today advising you that the personal information you provided us in connection with your SOE account may have been stolen in a cyber-attack. Stolen information includes, to the extent you provided it to us, the following: name, address (city, state, zip, country), email address, gender, birthdate, phone number, login name and hashed password.”
Sony also added that the security breach may also affect older credit card data from their 2007 database. These data may include bank accounts, debit card and credit card expiration dates and numbers from certain subscribers from Spain, Netherlands, Austria and Germany.
The Sony Online Entertainment is now offline and they are seeking help from an outside security firm. In addition to these, the company is strengthening its security to protect its over 10,000 subscribers. However, people cannot deny that encountering security breach the second time will not give Sony’s reputation any good.
