Future of Smartphones: Holograms and Folding Screens
After Apple's iPhone paved the way for smartphones, what should be the design and features of a smartphone of the future?
A crowd sourcing company that specializes in ‘online co-creation of products’, eYeka, has published some interesting concepts for future smartphones. In addition to this, their community came up with requirements that the next generation smartphones must be minimalistic, with more features but not complicated, feels like an extension of the human body, can be a ‘life guide’, eco-friendly and projects information through hologram.
The first video, entitled ‘Roundphone’, details a biscuit-shaped smartphone that uses holographic projector as a screen. It’s like Luke Skywalker summoning up a hologram of Princess Leia. In this video, the device is operating using Kinect-like gestural controls.
The second video, showcases the capabilities of a ‘Flexphone.’ It is a folding screen device that can take on various forms, depending on what screen size is best on a user’s need. More likely to occur in the future, this concept would make use of the flexible OLED technology.
