Mobile payment system Square which enables its users to pay for items by swiping their credit card on their phones has announced at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference two new products: the Square Register, and the Square Card Case.
The Square Register is an iPad app that imitates the function of a cash register as well as providing sellers with data on transactions. Dorsey compared the information to “Google Analytics-style data.” “This obsoletes credit card terminals and cash registers,” Dorsey says.
The Square Card Case on the other hand is an app that enables users to “explore local businesses; view menus; track and store digital receipts; and open digital tabs to make instant, effortless purchases.”
Dorsey says, “We want to take away all of this clutter, all the paper, all the mess. “Get rid of the take out menus, get rid of the loyalty cards, get rid of the receipts, get rid of it and replace it with one clean digital card.”
Dorsey also described the payment process as being “as easy as buying a song on iTunes.”
The card allows users to see the menus that can be updated in real time through the Square register, as well as the tracking of full itemized receipts for every purchase. The card case also enables users to see a directory of shops in the area.View Article Source »
