Moshi Monsters now have 50 million registered users
Moshi Monsters, a two-year old online game has reached a very remarkable milestone: 50 million registered users.
Moshi Monsters, a social online game/community which allows kids aged 6 to 12 to adopt virtual pets, move around a virtual land called Monstro City, play games and earn virtual currency, as well as communicate with other users in a safe and moderated environment. The game also includes books, video games, trading cards and a Moshi magazine. Pretty soon toys will be available as well. Moshi will also begin to invade the music scene, TV, film, and hold live tours.
London-based startup Mind Candy, the founder of the game, reports that Moshi has has more than 15 million registered users North America alone. That is out of the total 50 million users. It appears that, the game gets one signup per second.
Fifty million is a pretty large community, but it makes sense bearing in mind the rise of the digital native we have been privy to lately. Last October, a study conducted by Internet security firm AVG found that 92% of children in the U.S. have an online presence by the time they are two, compared to only 73% in Western Europe.View Article Source »
