WWDC 2011’s Apple Rumor Mill
With the WWDC 2011 just a few hours away, let's take a look on Apple rumors that might make it to Steve Job's keynote later.
The WWDC 2011 will be kicking off later, making all the Apple rumors circulating for the past few months laid to rest. With iOS, Lion OS X and iCloud pre-announced by Apple, people already have an idea of what Steve Job’s keynote will be all about. However, further details are quite fuzzy.
Let’s take a look at some of the major rumors in play at today’s WWDC.
The iPhone 4S or iPhone 5
While Apple has used WWDC to launch every iPhone version, it seems that the company is gearing up for a fall launch this year. Therefore, the next iPhone will either be named as iPhone 4S and giving just a spec bump, or iPhone 5 with an entirely new look. However, there can be a bigger chance that this event will be all about the device’s software only.
iOS 5: Voice Control
Earlier this year, Apple purchased Siri — a voice control application for mobile devices. With voice control currently limited on the iPhone, the Siri acquisition now gives the company the technology to make it happen.
iOS 5: Notification Revamps
After webOS interface designer – Rich Dellinger – steps in at Apple as Senior UI designer last year, rumors have it that MobileNotifier developer – Peter Hajas – was hired by a certain Cupertino-based company. Does this means that Apple is now ready to make some changes with how bothering their notifications in iOS could be?
iOS 5: Twitter Integration
People from the Rumor-ville has it that Apple is planning on having a ‘deep Twitter intergation’ in iOS 5. However, no one really knows what could that mean. The possibilities range from photo uploading to Messages and Contacts integration.
iOS 5: Miscellaneous
It is expected at the WWDC 2011 later that Apple will give a preview of the iOS 5. This can include widgets and the deep iCloud integration.
iCloud: Music Streaming
The iCloud is one big rumor that is heading to WWDC 2011. With all major record labels now on board, the mechanics of cloud music streaming is the only thing vague. However, GADG reported last week that the iCloud music streaming is said to be only available for iTunes-purchased tracks first.
iCloud: Data Syncing
The huge Apple data center in North Carolina has heated up tons of speculations this year, including the data syncing issue. This could mean anything, starting from cloud backups to mobile home folders.
The Lion OS X June 14 Launch
Rumors of a mid-June launch for the Lion OS X have surfaced recently. But if the iCloud requires deep OS X ties, developers will need more time to work at Lion’s current build before its release.
With the Apple rumor mill going insane, this year’s WWDC has the potential of becoming a big event. There will be rumors that are bound to come to fruition, while others will have not a single grain of truth in them. But which is which, people will yet to know.View Article Source »
