Amazon Prepares to be the Next iPad Competitor

Digitimes reports that Amazon is planning to produce its own branded tablet to compete with Apple's iPad.
Digitimes announced recently that Amazon is now ready to enter the new media world with its own tablet device that is set to be released in few months. Knowing that they have been one of the most renowned businesses in the music and video markets, Amazon planned their upcoming device to produce good media integration. The report also stated that Amazon’s products are scheduled to come in the market before the holiday season, as they aims to ship 700,000-800,000 units per month and sell four million units before the year ends.
Digitimes indicated: “The timing of launch is to meet the peak sales period prior to Thanksgiving in the US and the year-end holidays in the US and Europe. Amazon adopts processors developed by Texas Instruments, with Taiwan-based Wintek to supply touch panels, ILI Technology to supply LCD driver ICs and Quanta Computer responsible for assembly.”
Amazon will be adding CloudDrive and streaming movie services into its new iPad. Although the company had not yet stated what platform to use, some reports claimed that the device will be Android-based.
As of now, new tablets are appearing on the scene, but none of them can pull Apple down from its high standing. Amazon, together with other companies such as HP, are producing tablets with cloud-based media services in order to defeat Apple.
