Amazon, To Launch New Tablet Computer by October
Amazon is planning to battle the iPad with its new tablet computer, which is slated to be released in October.
Earlier reports claimed that Amazon.com will be releasing a new tablet, which is expected to compete against Apple’s current-gen iPad. Now, the launching was made official, as the company recently announced that their device will be available in the market sometime in October. The said tablet will also help the digital store to sell most of its content, such as music and movies.
Apple is renowned for topping the tablet market to date. Since their iPad debut last year, they’ve already sold over 19.5 million worth of devices — forcing Amazon to face a really hard competition.
Few reports have revealed some features of the upcoming tablet. Amazon’s tab will sport a 9-inch screen and will run on Google’s Android platform. Unlike the iPad 2, the tablet won’t be having a camera. However, it will be retailed for a very reasonable price, making it a better option compared to other tablets.
Amazon admits that entering the tablet market is such a risky move. They even stated that they’re planning to use a good strategy, so they would not outrun the sales of their best-selling product — the Kindle. The upcoming tablet is as well perceived not to mimic most of the details of Kindle.
According to Sarah Rotman Epps, a Forrester Research analyst, “a new Amazon tablet will face many challenges while taking on the iPad, but few companies are better-positioned”. Meanwhile, Amazon’s digital content store is perhaps a good marketing strategy, for it sets an alternative to Apple’s iTunes store.View Article Source »
