Nokia N9 Wrap-up: Specs, Price, Availability

If you’re in the search for a new smartphone, the upcoming model from might just be the perfect choice for you. Slated for a sometime this year, the N9 – also known as N9-00 – is a cool-looking handset with superb screen display and a fluidic body design.

Few of the phone’s were first revealed during the Nokia Connection event that was held at Singapore. The company announced that the forthcoming device will be loaded with the new Meego OS, which is expected to give N9 a stronger edge over its competitors. It will also provide users with great fan support and millions of applications available in OVI store. Unlike other touch screen phones, the Nokia N9 is believed to have a much better user interface, making itself the future leader in the smartphone market.

Below are the Nokia N9 details which you might find interesting:


Phone Size: 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1 mm, 76 cc (dimensions); 135 g (weight)

CPU: 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU, PowerVR SGX530 GPU, TI OMAP 3630 chipset

OS: MeeGo OS, v1.2 Harmattan

Browser: WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML, RSS feeds

Messaging: SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email, IM

Display: An AMOLED capacitive with 16million colors. It features a 2.5D Curved Gorilla Glass display, anti-glare polariser, multi-touch input method, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, and an accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate.

Display Size: 480 x 854 pixels, 3.9 inches

Sound: Capable of playing MP3 and WAV ringtones, with Dolby Headphone and Dolby Digital Plus support.

The Nokia N9 will be available in three different colors: Black, magenta and cyan. Consumers can either purchase the 16GB or the 64GB version of the smartphone. The price details were not yet official, but it is believed that N9’s 16GB version will be retailed for $660, while the 64GB version for $749.


Based from a source close to the manufacturer, the Nokia N9 is slated for a launch around September-October 2011. The initial list of countries where the smartphone will be available includes: China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Singapore, Russia and some European countries. No reports yet whether N9 will hit the shelves of USA, UK & India.

    I didn’t thought that Angry Birds will be this good in MeeGo
    OS. I heard that this OS will be the first and last time that Nokia will use
    it. I personally believe that MeeGo deserves to be in the same ranks as iOS and
    Android.  Good job Linux and Nokia!
