Sprint to Sell iPhone 5 alongside AT&T and Verizon [RUMOR]
Rumors have claimed that Apple's iPhone 5 is coming to Sprint in mid-October.
This topic is certainly the hottest issue in the Apple market to date — as reported by Wall Street Journal, Sprint will be offering the 5th-generation iPhone once it has been released in “mid-October” of this year. Along with AT&T and Verizon, Sprint is said to be the third U.S. carrier to sell the anticipated device.
Sprint Nextel Corp. will begin selling the iPhone 5 in mid-October, people familiar with the matter said, closing a huge hole in the No. 3 U.S. carrier’s lineup and giving Apple Inc. another channel for selling its popular phone.
The timing, however, indicates Apple’s new iPhone will hit the market later than expected and too late to contribute to sales in the company’s fiscal fourth quarter, which ends in September. Most observers had expected the device to arrive next month.
Sprint was known to be one of the nation’s largest wireless service providers; and now, it also becomes the third carrier to receive the iPhone 5 after Apple launched with Verizon this year and with AT&T in 2007. Well, probably this is a much better way to prevent the company from being overpowered by Verizon and AT&T/T-Mobile’s team-up. AT&T was considered to be the official iPhone carrier in the U.S until the first quarter of this year, when Apple released a CDMA version of its 4th-gen iPhone for Verizon. Sprint also operates the same CDMA network and is reported to be offering the iPhone 4 too.
These “Sprint iPhone” speculations actually started when an Apple job posting was placed near the Sprint’s Kansas headquarters way back in May. Such reports were not yet considered true and would remain as rumors until Sprint delivers their words.View Article Source »
