Nokia, Searching for New Remix of Their Classic Tone
Nokia is offering big money for a new remix of their classic tune, which will be used for the new batch of their phones.
Nokia took several steps and moves to revitalize its slumping core cell phone business, including adopting Microsoft’s Windows Phone as its primary OS. The company also wants to redevelop the way their products sound.
Nokia announced a contest of remixing their classic tunes embedded in all of their phones for the past 18 years to find a fresh version of it. Even though the company is searching for a refresh of the tune, it is – in the spirit of “Connecting People” – looking for a tune that is fresh, expressive, original and creative yet distinctively a Nokia Tune at the same time.
Semi-finalists will be selected on October 5. Five of them will be selected by public voting and five by a professional jury. The jury will then choose the winner and runners up. The first prize will win $10,000, while five runners-up will be rewarded with $1,000 each. The winner’s remix will be loaded into over 100 million Nokia devices manufactured during 2012. Both the winner’s and runners’ up ringtones will be available as free downloads from Nokia’s online Ovi Store.
Nokia’s original tune was introduced in 1994. Its an excerpt from Francisco Tarrega’s waltz “Gran Vals” which you can watch below.View Article Source »
