iOS and Android Devices Obtain Record-Breaking Holiday Sales

Flurry Analytics has the data to prove the peak on app downloads and device activations.
Apple and Google surely profit a lot from the holiday shopping rush and research company Flurry Analytics proved this claim by using “apps monitoring.” However, this report is not 100% reliable but likely the best guess available.
Flurry estimated that 6.8 million Android and iOS devices were activated on Christmas day. This value was derived by monitoring 140,000 client apps. The total number of devices accounted a growth of 353% from the average number of devices activated from December 1 to 20. The sudden growth was the result of tablets and smartphones given as Christmas presents. The record from Christmas last year was 2.8 million which meant the value went up to more than 140%.
In addition, Flurry also looked at the numbers of app downloads on Christmas Day and collected a value of 242 million, a 125% increase from the average of 108 million a day from the course of December 1 to 20. Most app downloads took place between 7pm to 10pm of December 25.
All in all, Flurry is still expecting an approximate value of one billion app downloads in all platforms until New Year’s Day.
