Nintendo Officially Announces ‘Nintendo Network’

Following the announcement of a bleak quarterly report, Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata has officially announced that it will soon catch up with its competitors and launch its own online gaming network.
‘Nintendo Network’, Nintendo’s aptly-named online network, will allow users to compete and interact with other users and enjoy ‘not just game add-ons but fully downloadable retail games as well’.
The network will also provide Wii U users their own personal user account, making it possible to transport downloads and game preferences to other system and marking the end of Nintendo’s no-transfer policy.
“This concept was built into the design of the Nintendo 3DS, and we already have the necessary infrastructure,” Iwata stated, “We will prepare the same infrastructure for the Wii U. However, we have not decided the concrete timing of when we will start it.”
