Twitter Buys Blogging Platform Posterous

Twitter buys blogging site Posterous for an undisclosed amount

has just bought the 4 year old, short-form blogging platform, , last Monday.

Posterous made this announcement in their official blog site:

“The opportunities in front of Twitter are exciting, and we couldn’t be happier about bringing our team’s expertise to a product that reaches hundreds of millions of users around the globe.”

Twitter’s company blog happily answered Posterous’ earlier announcement:

“Today we are welcoming a very talented group from Posterous to Twitter. This team has built an innovative product that makes sharing across the web and mobile devices simpl-a goal we share,”

“Posterous engineers, product managers and others will join our teams working on several key initiatives that will make Twitter even better.”

In Posterous, blog posting can be done by logging in to the website’s rich text editor, but it is specifically designed for mobile blogging. Mobile methods include sending an email with attachments of , MP3s, documents, and video.

The acquisition of Posterous won’t cause any disruptions to its service for now. Twitter has promised to give users a notice in case they make changes Posterous’ service. They also said in their statement that users can back up their data or move to another network and will post instructions on how to do so, in the weeks to come.
