Food Printer Lets You Print Food Scented Postcards

Concept printer allows a user to print postcards that smell like food. Makes use of an aroma sensor to mix aroma inks stored on the machine.
If you’ve been longing to capture the memory of your favorite food and be able to share it with your loved ones, you can now do so with a concept machine created by an Industrial Design Student in China.
Zhu Jingxuan, a student at the Fashion & Art Design Institute of Donghua University, made a sketch and created the model device of a food printer, with the help of Sony’s Student Design Workshop.
The “Food Printer” makes use of a camera to take pictures and a smell extractor, to collect the food’s aroma. It prints a postcard and uses an aroma ink. Sniff your printed postcard and you can smell your favorite meal in a card.
Jingxuan’s design garnered him the “most-fun” award during Sony’s workshop. By winning, he also had the chance to work with designers from the Sony China Creative Center in Shanghai to turn his concept into a real product.
“We worked with 10 Sony designers for nine days and nights. We discussed everything about our designs in a very detailed way. They were hard days but happy days.” Jingxuan said about his experience.
