Honda’s Introduces First Commercial Robotic Lawn Mower

Honda Miimo, a robotic lawn mower is the solution to a perfectly manicured lawn
Japanese auto maker, Honda recently debuted its first commercial robotic lawn mower, the Honda Miimo. It provides homeowners a beautiful, manicured lawn, without the need to hire a gardener or the hassle of trimming the grass by themselves.
Honda Miimo is a self charging device that is powered by a performance lithium-ion battery. It constantly monitors its battery level by itself and returning to its docking station to recharge. It features a fan that it installed to its blade holder, that enables it to ‘suck’ the grass towards the blades, provided by the airflow.
It makes use of a ‘continuous cutting’ system that constantly cuts 2-3mm of grass at a time. It mows in a random pattern, that provides less stress on the grass, promoting healthy growth, reduced moss and weeds. A boundary should be installed around the perimeter of the garden, to prevent the Honda Miimo from crossing the neighbor’s yard, helping the device to find its way around the garden by using an an intelligent combination of controls, timers and real-time sensory feedback.
The Honda Miimo will be available in two models, 300 and 500. Each model provides a maximum perimeter cut of 300m and 500m. It is set to be available in the European market through Honda Authorized Dealers in the early part of 2013.
