AMD's fastest desktop processor to date, the Phenom II X6 1100T ups the ante in the company's line of hexa-cores.

Just in time for the holiday season, AMD releases the next incarnation of the X6 series, the Phenom II X6 1100T. AMD shows off the 1100T as the fastest processor to date that boasts a improved and flexible overclocking.

But despite all the hype we’ve been getting, the performance still falls short against Intel’s impressive (and more expensive) hexa-core line. Reception has been pretty cold from people at TechSpot and HotHardware as they dub the 1100T a “little improvement” from the X6 1090T.

The only good thing that we can root out from 1100T’s release is the price cut of 1090T. 1100T sells for $265 which was the previous price of 1090T before they cut it down to $230. 1100T nonetheless is very cheap for a high quality CPU. But if you’re a bargain-hunter, then 1090T might be a better choice over 1100T.
