From movies, to television, to handheld consoles, and now we have 3D smartphones. It was just a matter of time until we see one, and now LG is here to grab the spotlight.

It’s just a matter of time until 3D comes into the smartphone category, and Korea-based company LG draws first blood into the business. The LG Optimus 3D is touted to be the world’s first 3D smartphone and will make an appearance at the Mobile World Congress or MWC in Barcelona.

According to the official press release, the LG Optimus 3D will feature a dual-lens camera, which will allows 3D recording. It will also feature an LCD panel where glasses-free 3D viewing will be allowed. But what’s daunting and bold for LG is that the Optimus 3D is bound to address the lack of 3D content in the market, which leaves us little to no clue as to how the company will figure that out.

If you want to know more about the Optimus 3D, stay tuned to as we deliver news hot off the press once the Mobile World Congress or MWC 2011 kicks in this February 14 to 17.
