Seven-inch Android 3.2 Iconia Tab, set to be released in August for $300.

Sources close to the retailer unveiled that ACER Iconia Tab A100 will launch in the U.S earlier than expected.

The tablet is said to hit the market sometime in August with a retail price that is much cheaper than its predecessor. With a cost of only $300 compared to the $450 10-inch A500, this seven-inch tablet still features the same Android 3.2 system and Tegra 2 processor, but will be sporting a much smaller screen and memory storage of 8GB and 512MB RAM.

Acer Germany unveiled to its Facebook fans that they will release the Iconia Tab A100 this September.

Acer Germany announced to their Facebook fans this week that they will be shipping the Iconia Tab A100 in September. The 7-inch Android 3 tablet was originally scheduled to release last spring, but was moved for several months. It’s still unclear what is the reason why the shipping of the tablet was delayed, and the company still have no explanation regarding the issue.

However, there are several speculations that emerged due to the delay. Earlier tips pointed out that Acer was waiting for Android 3.2 before they release the Iconia Tab A100. Android 3.2 is built for tablets only, but can accommodate smaller designs like the A100, while properly scaling its interface and apps.
