Samsung unveils its answer to LG's 55-inch OLED TV, the 'SUPER' OLED TV.

Samsung unveiled the ‘SUPER’ OLED TV, the Korean electronics giants answer to its rival LG’s “world’s largest” OLED TV. The slender 55-inch TV boasts an ‘unmatched vivid and true-to-life picture quality’ with its enhanced color accuracy and has self-emitting RGB sub-pixels that eliminates the need for color filter.

It also has a 3D support, a dual-core processor that allows users to run multiple apps without interrupting the viewing experience and includes smart interaction capabilities such as voice and motion control and face recognition technology.

No word on the price or exact release date yet but the Samsung Super OLED TV is expected to be out in the second half of 2012.

LG confirmed their newest smartphone called Optimus Sol which offers 30% longer battery life.

Last Sunday, LG confirmed its Optimus Sol — an Android 2.3 handset which emphasizes its outdoor credentials with what it calls an Ultra AMOLED display. It is similar to the Samsung’s super AMOLED. The 3.8-inch screen is twice as reflective of its light and is much more visible outside than usual AMOLED, which tends to wash out in sunlight.

Encouraging the outdoor use is a new power control system that LG predicted to get about 20 to 30% more battery life . As insurance, the phone has an uncommonly large 1,500mAh battery. Optimus Sol features a single-core, second generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor; 512MB of RAM and a rear 5 megapixel camera with autofocus but no flash. LG skins the phone with its usual interface layer and supplies a 2GB microSD card.

The Optimus Sol is set to be released in mid-September for Europe. Central and South America will get it next. The current version doesn’t support North American 3G bands, although LG is known to sometimes adapt its phones later.
