The Microsoft Patch Tuesday

Microsoft, once again, released a big batch of software updates for its various products. And while it is customary for Big Red, the company just delivered it biggest patch ever.

It’s the time of month again wherein Microsoft delivered a number of updates for its products. However, Big Red delivered the largest number of updates in its December 2010 Patch Tuesday. Collectively, all updates apply to all versions of Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Microsoft SharePoint 2007. MS10-090 and MS10-091 seems to be the most critical of all the bulletins, and must be on top of the priority list.

Microsoft Pushes Windows Web Bug Patch

Hallelujah! Microsoft's patch for the reported ASP.Net bug is now pushed to end users problems via Windows Update. Brought by the company as promised, making cyber culprits at bay.

Keeping their promise earlier this week, Microsoft released its latest emergency patch to its Windows Update distribution service yesterday. Last Tuesday, the company shipped a fix for the ASP.Net Web site and application framework flaw. The bug enables attackers from stealing important data from Web servers. However, the fix was only available from their download site then.

Hackers Exploit ASP.Net Bug

Following a research demo of how "oracle padding" bug can be exploited by force-feeding cypher text to an ASP.Net application, Microsoft needs some patching up for their web application framework.

A warning from Microsoft has it that hackers are exploiting the un-patched bug in ASP.Net. Symantec, however, said that is has not seen any attacks yet. All versions of ASP.Net are vulnerable to this attack, letting the culprits access Web applications with full administrator rights. The company promised a patch for the zero-day bug, but no delivery date was set.
