Despite its fairly new offering, Blizzard is seeing a decrease in subscribers for World of Warcraft.

During their latest earnings announcement, Blizzard claimed that their World of Warcraft subscribers where down again. Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard, informed investors that the game is still seeing number of subscribers that are correlated with the release of updates and expansions.

Blizzard recently announced as well that players can play WoW until level 20 without charge. However, this offering is not seeing an increase in subscribers yet. Still, the firm is gearing up for a serious competition with Bioware, as the latter gets ready for the holiday launch of Old Republic.

Mass Effect 3 Delayed Until Q1 2012

Written on May 05, 2011 by Kristoff Jones

Looks like Mass Effect players will be killing some alien machinations some other time.

EA development studio, BioWare, has announced that the next and final installation of the Mass Effect franchise – Mass Effect 3 – will no longer see the light of a 2011 day. Instead, the action RPG hit is now set to be released on the first quarter of 2012.

The delay could be a good thing though, as experience tells gamers that BioWare isn’t particularly good when it comes to rushed sequels, i.e. Dragon Age II. Mass Effect 3’s 2012 release will also mean the game would avoid going head-to-head with big games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Uncharted 3 for the 2011 holiday releases.

Red Dead Redemption is Game of the Year

Written on December 13, 2010 by Kristoff Jones

Red Dead Redemption and Bioware claim the top prizes in the recently concluded Spike TV's Video Game Awards 2010. Who else made it on the list?

It’s that time of the year again, folks. The time when we show our friends, parents, or any other random passerby that people do make a living through videogames. And that reaffirmation is here thanks to Spike TV’s annual Video Game Awards.

It was a night full of surprises and fanboy/fangirl squeals as the show kicked off with host, tv celeb Neil Patrick Harris violently shooting people in top hats with a machine gun. And if that doesn’t spell peonage, then maybe a couple of trailers from some of the most anticipated video games for 2011 would. Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect 3, and SSX Deadly Descents rocked the video game world down to its core.

And an awards show wouldn’t be complete with the awards (duh). And Red Dead Redemption comes home as king.

Winners available after the break.
