RIM, to Launch a Tablet Device at DevCon Next Week

It is no longer just smartphones for RIM today. The BlackBerry handset manufacturer is set to unveil their BlackBerry tablet at Development Conference in San Francisco next week. Plus, their new device will run in a new OS.

According to Wall Street Journal, BlackBerry handset manufacturer – Research in Motion – will show off their tablet device at San Francisco’s Developer Conference next week. Dubbed as the BlackPad, RIM has even larger plans to run their device on a new OS — based on work from QNX. QNX is a company acquired by RIM early this year, and is also slated to power BlackBerry handsets in the near future. This new OS is something that will give the company a clean break from their aging mobile OS, and this could be a great news for Canada’s most-loved tech company.

Blackberry will Soon Release its own Tablet

Is Blackberry envious over iPads's fame? Coming your way is the Blackberryy-powered tablet dubbed as Blackpad.

The Blackberry-powered device is said to have an iPad-inspired screen dimensions, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options. The last two features will play significant functions in video conferencing. A couple of cameras also fit into the tablet, one in the front and another at the back.

Research in Motion, the company behind Blackberry, is not confirming or denying anything though. This news spread rapidly after RIM took over the domain BlackPad.com. Neither this has been responded to by the company.
