Microsoft sends out its love for Mozilla, as the IE team delivers a congratulatory cupcake for the Firefox 5 release.

Microsoft delivered a congratulatory cupcake for Mozilla, following the successful release of Firefox 5. However, this is not the first time that Microsoft sent Mozilla a tasty congratulatory treat.

Back in 2008, the Internet Explorer team sent a cake with the launch of Firefox 3. Then a smaller cake came last March when Mozilla unleashed Firefox 4. This time, Microsoft sent our their love for Mozilla with a cupcake, and a “Congratulations on shipping” note at the flap of the box.

So what’s the point of Microsoft sending sweets to Mozilla if they’re not laced with poison? It’s just a friendly competition. Although IE and Mozilla are competing Internet browsers, Microsoft is still the winner — since the latter allows Windows-based users to shop for online Microsoft products, watch videos with Microsoft ads, and even use Bing.

Basically, the cupcake is Microsoft’s way of reminding Mozilla that no matter how successful they are now, Internet Explorer is just lurking in the shadows. Ready to strike any moment.
